Happy Endorphin Making

La Vida Laguna has been making memories since 2002, when founder Billy Fried quit his day job and dedicated himself to the ocean. He was smitten with the calm, protected waters, abundant sea life, and contoured coastline of North Laguna. A habitual paddler himself, he wanted to share the special beauty of Laguna and its amazing ecology with others, hoping each visitor would return to land a better ocean steward.

What makes the Pacific so special is the diversity in the everyday. Once enveloped by the sea, your senses will alight in the thousand sensations of nature – the briny ocean scent, gentle off-shore breeze, the ripples and rhythmic patterns in the current, the warm embrace of the sun, the deep, ever morphing embrace of colors, and endless vistas north to Palos Verdes, east to the verdant hills of Laguna, south to Dana Point, and west to Catalina. Not to mention a riot of sea life that engages and delights – cormorants, sea gulls, pelicans, garibaldi, and of course the big three – sea lions, dolphins and whales. You certainly don’t have to go to Africa to see big game.

But the real difference at La Vida Laguna is our people. Our water men and women have grown up by the sea and it shows. It is their sanctuary, and they are humbled to share it with you. They receive lots of training; guiding, first aid, CPR, and good jokes. A noted Marine Biologist gives an annual orientation. They’re good at what they love and they love what they do. So while you may not remember that whale breaching, you’ll always recall your guide.
